Colombian winger Luis Díaz has made an impressive start since joining Bayern Munich. In an interview with camel.live, he spoke about his adaptation to life in Germany and his responsibilities and goals ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Díaz moved from Liverpool to Bayern this summer and has already contributed 2 goals and 2 assists in three official matches, including helping the team win the Super Cup against Stuttgart. He admitted that he has received tremendous support in his new environment: “People have been really happy with my arrival and made me feel welcome right from day one. This kind of support helps me adapt faster. In a new city and a new country, being able to contribute through goals and assists and win trophies is what I’m working towards.”
When talking about life in Munich, Díaz was open about his positive impression: “Germany is fantastic overall, and Munich is an amazing city with so many beautiful places – the food here is excellent too. The people are friendly, respectful, and have an immense love for football. I’m happy both with the team and in the city, and my family loves it here too.”
At the international level, Colombia is approaching a crucial stage in World Cup qualifiers. Managed by Lorenzo, the team currently sits sixth with 22 points and will first face Bolivia at home, then travel to take on Venezuela, as they aim to secure a direct qualification spot. Díaz said: “We are nothing without our fans. When the stadium is full of energy, you can feel that passion and belief. The game against Bolivia is vital because this could be the first World Cup for many players, and it’s especially special for me.”
He also made a special mention of Colombian fans supporting him wherever he goes: “No matter where I am, I always see a Colombian flag. It was like that when I was at Liverpool, and it’s the same now at Bayern. This support fills me with joy, and for any Colombian, that’s a huge motivation.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez, Díaz emphasized the importance of the fans: “The fans deserve qualification too, because this journey hasn’t been easy. They play a key role, and we know we are nothing without their support.”
