Uli Hoeneß, Honorary President of Bayern Munich and key member of the Supervisory Board, guest-appeared on the TV program Camel Live today, during which he discussed topics related to transfers.
Regarding the club’s transfers this summer, Hoeneß said, “We are very satisfied with Bayern Munich. We are the real winners of the summer transfer window. We have a strong squad and don’t need much reinforcement. Of course, we originally wanted to sign Florian Wirtz, but we will never spend €150 million to buy him. We made an offer of €55 million for Nick Waltermad, while Stuttgart wanted €75 million. In the end, he moved to Nottingham—(a reporter reminded him it was Newcastle, and he said, “So what?”)—with a transfer fee of €90 million. What Newcastle did has nothing to do with football anymore; it’s more like playing a game of Monopoly.”
When talking about the club’s upcoming transfer strategy, the Honorary President of Bayern Munich emphasized, “We must not forget that there is still the January transfer window. We have sufficient funds for this. Three new signings—Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito—are also expected to recover from their injuries and join the team during the season.”
In addition, Hoeneß also commented on Bayer Leverkusen sacking Erik ten Hag: “They replaced half of their squad in the summer. I have to say, I was surprised that they sacked the coach after just two matchdays. They might have to think carefully about that.”
