The transfer fee for Ekitić's move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool will exceed €90 million, and could even reach €95 million, meaning Liverpool's total spending this summer will surpass €300 million.
Liverpool will sign a 6-year contract with Ekitić, which will run until June 2031. Additionally, Ekitić himself only wants to transfer to Liverpool.
Liverpool have already spent €125 million to sign Wirtz, €46.9 million for Kerkz, €40 million for Frimpong, and €1.78 million for Armin Pejčinović this summer, with the total cost amounting to €214 million. Ekitić's arrival is expected to push this figure up to €304 million.
This figure will far exceed Liverpool's previous record for total transfer spending in any single season, but it will not yet make it into the top 5 in historical rankings. In the 2023/24 summer transfer window alone, three clubs – Chelsea, Al Hilal and Paris Saint-Germain – spent over €300 million, with Chelsea's €464 million still holding the record for the highest total spending in a single window.
