In the 5th round of La Liga, Antony made his first home appearance for Betis since his transfer. Before the match kicked off, the Brazilian player gave an interview to camel.live, sharing his eagerness to play again in front of the home fans.
Antony said, “I’m kind of eager to be back, playing at home—this match is really important. I’ve been thinking about this game all week. Returning to my home, I feel extremely happy, blissful, and really looking forward to the start of the match.”
Although he admitted going through some tough times, Antony expressed great joy at his return: “Life here is wonderful. I had some difficult days in Manchester, but that was part of the journey and part of life. But now I’m very happy here, with all the fans who support me and the people who care about me.”
There is no doubt that he has become a key star in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, yet Antony does not put pressure on himself; instead, he focuses on performing at his best on the pitch: “I feel calm. I’m someone who works really hard—whether on or off the field, I always try my best to do well. I want to keep doing good things, score more goals, provide more assists, and strive to win important honors.”
This season, he hopes the team can go further in all competitions they participate in: “Last year, we were so close to becoming champions, but that’s just part of life. I’m very proud of the entire group and the whole team. This year, we have to fight for all competitions because we know our strength.”
Finally, he revealed how he would celebrate his first home goal, hoping it would come in the match against Real Sociedad: “I hope it happens. I have many tattoos, but for my first celebration here, I will point to my ‘Light’ tattoo because it means a great deal to me.”
Looking ahead, he plans to get something related to Betis tattooed on his body, and this is already in his plans: "I’ve thought about getting a Betis tattoo, and I think I will do it. Because I have deep affection for Betis, as well as for São Paulo FC—that’s where my professional career started."
