Playing away to EFL League Two outfit Grimsby Town in this match, Manchester United trailed 0-2 at halftime. In the second half, however, goals from Mbeumo and Maguire saw the Red Devils level the score at 2-2 after 90 minutes of regular play.
In the subsequent penalty shootout, Manchester United was defeated 12-11 by Grimsby Town.
