Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, met with head coach Rúben Amorim at the club’s Carrington Training Ground on Thursday.

Ratcliffe made a special trip to Manchester for the talks, which had been scheduled in advance. Beyond his meeting with Amorim, Ratcliffe also had other meetings. However, it is understood that Ratcliffe wanted to help Amorim address the issues he is currently facing, so he did not accompany chief executive officer Omar Berrada to watch the club’s women’s team qualify for the Champions League group stage for the first time.

Amorim has been under immense pressure following a poor start to the season. Despite Manchester United spending over £200 million on new signings during the transfer window, the team has only secured one win so far – a stoppage-time penalty victory over Burnley last month – and was eliminated by League Two side Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup.

While sources close to Ratcliffe have stated that they still support Amorim and believe the significant improvement in statistics is the reason for their continued trust in him, others argue that these statistics mask the team's long-term inefficient performances.

Manchester United has privately denied that Amorim has only three games left to save his job. However, it is clear that if the team loses to Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland before the October international break, it will severely test the club’s trust in Amorim.
