Despite Amazon having held months of negotiations with Manchester United over filming a documentary, the club's hierarchy ultimately opted to terminate the collaboration after United manager Amorim expressed his dissatisfaction.
The documentary was originally planned to focus on the crucial transition period Manchester United entered after enduring "the worst season in the Premier League era". Amazon's offer exceeded £10 million, setting a new record for the "All or Nothing" documentary series, with Manchester City and Newcastle United having participated in similar documentaries before.
However, football finance expert Dan Plumley stated that although the plan has been put on hold, he believes it is only a matter of time before Manchester United films a documentary. In an interview with Football Insider, he said: “Manchester United remains one of the most globally appealing clubs; everyone wants to know the internal stories of the club and see behind-the-scenes footage. I am convinced that such a documentary will definitely be released at some point in the future.”
“If Amazon's offer really exceeds £10 million, that is enough to demonstrate the value and appeal of Manchester United as a brand. But they are not in urgent need of this money; they value more brand exposure and subsequent commercial tie-ins.”
"Documentaries are not just for fans in the UK. Overseas audiences are the main consumers of such content, as they cannot attend matches in person every week, and such behind-the-scenes documentaries can better bridge the gap between them and the team."
