The hierarchy at Old Trafford has issued an ultimatum to the Brazilian forward: either he accepts one of the club’s transfer offers, or he will remain in the stands until next January’s winter transfer window.
Since the opening of this summer’s transfer window, Antony’s agent and some relatives have held meetings in Seville. Throughout the entire summer transfer window, the message from Antony himself and his team has remained clear: he is eager to return to Betis and has made his wishes known to Manchester United.
Betis have informed Antony, hoping he will reject all offers until the final moments of the transfer window. At that point, Betis will put pressure on a pressured Manchester United, attempting to persuade them to agree to another loan deal for Antony with an option to buy included.
For Antony himself, he is also eager to return to Betis. The Brazilian winger’s top priority now is to secure a spot in next year’s World Cup squad, and staying at Manchester United is not under consideration. The Red Devils insist on a transfer fee of at least €40 million. While Betis have reserved a non-EU player quota spot for Antony, they will not exceed their financial constraints.
However, in any case, it is difficult for Manchester United to accept the Brazilian forward leaving on loan again. Having signed several new players this summer, the Red Devils hope to sell Antony permanently to recoup funds. But with Antony only wanting to return to Betis, progress in the transfer has been hard to come by.
Manchester United has issued a final ultimatum to the Brazilian, stating that the choice could not be clearer: either he accepts one of the club’s transfer offers, or he will stay in the stands until next January’s winter transfer window. It is understood that several other clubs are also monitoring Antony’s situation.
