After announcing his retirement, Marcelo has returned to the pitch. This week, he represented Skeleton FC in two King's League matches, aiming to help the team secure victories. The King's League, a semi-professional football league founded by former Barcelona player Gerard Piqué, is known for its more casual and entertaining style—making Marcelo’s return and subsequent controversy even more of a talking point among fans.
Unfortunately, despite the different reasons behind each defeat, Skeleton FC failed to win either game. The first match was against Rayo Barcelona, which proceeded smoothly; although Skeleton FC lost, there was no major controversy. However, in today’s match against XBuyer Team, Marcelo was extremely dissatisfied with the referee’s performance and took to social media to criticize FC Barcelona.
This led him to post a message on his X account, accompanied by a clip from the game: “In Barcelona, the same things always happen, and this has been going on for a long time… Are there any more words I need to say?” The post also included a kissing emoji, which instantly sparked a storm on social media. Fans flooded the comments section—some supporting the Real Madrid legend, while others disagreed with his remarks.
Even though the opponent this time was not Barcelona itself, the performance of referee Ángel reminded him of the referees in El Clásico (the fierce rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona). Marcelo believed Ángel’s performance was far from satisfactory, fueling his frustration over what he perceived as recurring unfair officiating linked to the Barcelona area.
