Following the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo, Ang Postecoglou is set to be appointed as the head coach of Nottingham Forest.
This appointment is expected to be confirmed within the next 24 hours, and Postecoglou will take up his role as head coach for Forest's away Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday. On that occasion, several former Tottenham Hotspur coaching staff members will also join Postecoglou's team.
The 60-year-old Australian coach has long been a top candidate to replace Nuno as Forest's head coach. He left Tottenham in June this year – just weeks after he won the UEFA Europa League title with the North London club.
Since leaving Tottenham, Postecoglou has been looking for a new club. Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad Jeddah once contacted him (the club viewed him as a coaching candidate), but no further progress was made in the end.
Meanwhile, Brentford FC also reached out to Postecoglou, hoping he would replace Thomas Frank as their head coach this summer. However, the club eventually appointed Keith Andrews to the position.
Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, has recently spoken highly of Postecoglou. Marinakis, who has Greek ancestry, previously managed Panachaiki, a club in the Greek lower leagues.
