Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo.
Following weeks of negotiations, a deal worth up to £71 million (approximately $95.5 million) has finally been struck. The agreement includes an initial transfer fee of £65 million (paid in four installments) plus a maximum of £6 million in bonuses.
The 26-year-old Mbeumo stated that if he were to leave Brentford Community Stadium, he would first choose Manchester United over other clubs. The Cameroonian international's transfer is currently being finalized.
Brentford had been hoping to secure a higher transfer fee than the £62.5 million Manchester United paid Wolverhampton Wanderers for Matheus Cunha earlier in this transfer window.
Manchester United's initial offer of £45 million plus £10 million in add-on clauses was rejected, as was their second bid of £55 million plus £7.5 million in bonuses.
Mbeumo featured in all 38 Premier League matches of the 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing 8 assists, helping Brentford finish 10th in the league.
He came through the youth academy of French club Troyes AC and joined Brentford in 2019, helping the club gain promotion to the top flight in 2021. He has made 242 appearances for Brentford, contributing 70 goals and 51 assists across all competitions.
