
Local time this Sunday, at the conclusion of a members' meeting held in Porto, the club surprisingly announced the signing of 34-year-old Dutch forward Luuk de Jong at the team’s home ground. The player then took to the pitch to make an appearance.
It is understood that de Jong will wear the number 26 jersey, but he will not be included in Porto’s squad for their match against Atlético Madrid. Last season in the Eredivisie, Luuk de Jong played for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists, before leaving as a free agent at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old Luuk de Jong enjoyed a successful season in the Netherlands, scoring 18 goals and registering 13 assists across 47 matches.
