Betis player Isco and his wife attended the press conference of the documentary "In Silence" at the Seville Film Festival this Thursday. He talked about the shooting experience, injury recovery, the upcoming derby, and his contract extension with Betis.

Isco, how was this shooting experience for you?

“It was a fantastic experience for me. I decided to let her tell this story because we live together, and she has access to things no one else does. We have enough trust to say 'yes' or 'no' to each other, which is proven in the film. She’s always there—supporting me through good times and bad.”

What message does this documentary want to convey to the audience?

“We tried to convey that many times you work hard and give your all, but things don’t go as you wish or plan. That’s what we wanted—to inspire those going through difficult times. You have to look forward, keep going, and see how to face life.”

Will the derby be a new start?

“It’s too early to say. I’m still focused on recovering from my injury, but we don’t rule out the possibility of a second film. Hope everything goes well and we have a story to tell. Winning a trophy with Betis would be a wonderful story.”

When will you return?

“You all know what the game against Girona means for our city and our fans. It’s a crucial moment. We still have time to adjust and keep working. Two weeks left to catch up with my teammates and face that derby with full commitment to win and bring joy to our fans.”

About your contract extension with Betis

"Now it’s her turn to pick up the camera and make another film… But seriously, the extension is on the table, and it will be simple because both Betis and I want to extend our journey together. I want to play at the new stadium—hope they can reach an agreement soon, otherwise I’ll miss the chance to play there. I’m very happy to be back in training with my teammates."

Have you overcome the fear of injury?

"The fear never goes away, just because of past experiences and history. Even today, in my second training session, I got hit again and was scared. Luckily, nothing happened. It’s about living with that fear and adapting like you do with everything else. When you get injured and have to start from scratch… it’s another lesson. As for the World Cup, my job is to work hard, be prepared, and reach the required level if that chance comes."

Will you retire at Betis?

"I want to live in the present. I think something very special has been created between Betis and me, and I’ll always be grateful for that. When a club bets on you when you’re not at your best, it stays with you. I try to give my all on the pitch to repay that. We’ve built a wonderful relationship, and as far as I’m concerned, I’ll do my best to extend it. I’m taking care of myself like never before to play at the new stadium. It will be an important and beautiful challenge. Always focus on the present, and hope we can be together for many years."
