Ahead of Italy’s away World Cup qualifier against Moldova, Italian midfielder Bryan Cristante gave an interview.
Cristante first said: “We want to win the game, put in a convincing performance, and continue our path of growth. But it’s never easy—every game in European football is challenging. All teams are strong, especially at their home grounds, where they all want to perform well.”
Italy currently ranks second in the group and will most likely need to participate in the World Cup qualifier playoffs. Cristante added: “It’s about the mental aspect—winning helps keep winning. So we have to perform well next to be prepared for March next year (the playoffs).”
Finally, Cristante talked about Italy national team coach Gennaro Gattuso: “He has the spirit of wearing this jersey; this passion is part of him. He made history with the Italian national team and passes this spirit on to us.”
