Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol revealed in an interview that he rarely discusses football with his family.

Which is your most memorable goal? And which one stands out the most for your family?

I seldom talk about football with my family. In fact, my two daughters only recently found out that I used to play for Barcelona. My eldest daughter was born when I was preparing to retire, and my youngest after I had already hung up my boots.

So which goal is your most memorable?

I don’t have too many choices. One was the goal against Germany in the 2010 World Cup semi-finals. Besides that, I scored a very similar goal at the Santiago Bernabéu. My goal put Barcelona ahead 2-1, almost securing the La Liga title in advance (Barça eventually won 6-2 away to Real Madrid).

These two goals are very similar—was the one for Barcelona a pre-planned tactic?

It was a tactic formulated two minutes before kick-off. Coach Tito Vilanova stopped me, Xavi, and Gerard Piqué, telling us to use this tactical combination if we got a wide free-kick. And we successfully scored from it.
