AC Milan are planning an ambitious summer transfer window, with the Rossoneri potentially attempting a stunning deal: the club is interested in signing Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer next summer. The Barcelona forward’s current contract runs until the end of this season, and if Barça do not offer a renewal, he will also consider his next career move.
Previously, some media suggested Lewandowski would consider retirement, but in response, the striker’s agent said in an interview: “Reports that Lewandowski is considering retirement are untrue. He is an excellent forward, but so far, there has been no news about his renewal or future at Barcelona.”
The agent’s statement immediately attracted attention from several European giants and Saudi clubs, with the latter ready to offer a lucrative contract. However, Milan’s plans seem more appealing to the Polish striker, who has not ruled out playing in Serie A before retiring.
It is reported that Igli Tare, who has recently contacted Lewandowski’s team, will meet with the player’s agent Pini Zahavi in the coming weeks to discuss a salary structure that fits the Rossoneri’s financial situation. The club aims to replicate the success of signing French veteran Olivier Giroud—who joined in the later stages of his career but became a key piece in Milan’s plans. The management hopes Lewandowski’s experience and professionalism will have an equally significant impact.
Within the club, Zlatan Ibrahimović, who has entered the management team, is strongly pushing for this deal. The Swedish legend believes Lewandowski perfectly fits the club’s values and can set an example for Milan’s younger generation, just as he has done in recent years.
No agreement has been reached yet, and negotiations have only just begun, but Milan’s competitive plans—especially the possibility of continuing to play in the Champions League in a stable and competitive environment—are highly attractive to Lewandowski. This transfer is worth watching; if the Rossoneri can successfully convince the Polish captain, it will be one of the biggest blockbusters of the 2025 summer window.
