Roma have made a permanent transfer offer of £20 million (€23.2 million) for Manchester United player Jadon Sancho.
The Italian club’s offer consists mostly of a fixed component but also includes add-ons, leading both parties to acknowledge that the deal faces significant challenges in completion.
Talks between the clubs are still in the initial stages, and Sancho has not yet revealed whether he is willing to accept the transfer.
Manchester United prefers to sell the England international – who spent last season on loan at Chelsea – on a permanent basis, but this stance could change as the transfer window nears its close.
Roma are also in talks over signing Aston Villa forward Leon Bailey on loan to bolster their attacking options.
Borussia Dortmund have expressed their interest to Sancho’s agents, hoping he will consider a return to the Bundesliga.
Sancho has options in England and across Europe, and he is expected to explore them before deciding on his next move. His contract with Manchester United runs until next June, with an option to extend for a further year.
The 25-year-old made 42 appearances for Chelsea during his loan spell in the 2024-25 season. Chelsea’s agreement with Manchester United last summer included an obligation to make the move permanent for £25 million. This clause was triggered in April this year, when Chelsea finished no lower than 15th in the Premier League.However, Chelsea failed to agree personal terms with Sancho and instead exercised an option to pay £5 million to send him back to Manchester United.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists, helping the team win the Europa Conference League and finish fourth in the Premier League.
