Seventy years ago today, Real Madrid made its debut in the UEFA Champions League during the tournament's first edition.
On September 8, 1955, Real Madrid played their first-ever Champions League match, defeating Servette 2-0 in Geneva. Miguel Muñoz became the first player in Real Madrid's history to score a goal in the Champions League. That season, Real Madrid eliminated Servette, Partizan Belgrade, and AC Milan one after another, and finally defeated Reims in the final to claim the first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
To this day, Real Madrid, with 15 Champions League titles, stands as the most successful team in the competition's history. Additionally, they dominate the standings in statistics such as the most wins (302 matches), most appearances (503 matches), and most goals scored (1,104 goals), leaving other teams far behind.
