Manchester United remain confident that they can beat Newcastle United to successfully sign Benjamin Šeško. When Manchester United took the initiative to contact RB Leipzig, the latter stated they are willing to sell Šeško to United, but at the same time, Leipzig also indicated that they hope United will include Rasmus Højlund in the deal – the Dane has long been a player Leipzig have coveted.
However, Højlund himself does not want to leave Manchester United. He intends to stay and fight for his place at the club, continuing to compete for his position.
The Danish forward previously reinforced this stance in a media interview, stating: “My plan is clear – no matter what happens, I will stay and fight for my place. I am happy to embrace competition; it keeps me sharp. I am fully prepared and feeling in good form right now, so I am ready to take on any challenges at any time.”
This is not absolute, though, as prior to this, Manchester United’s senior management and coaches have not communicated with Højlund about the matter. If United were to approach him to discuss it, he might reassess his future prospects at this critical point in August.
So the current situation is that Højlund hopes to stay at Manchester United and is willing to work hard to fight for his place at the club, after all, he has affection for United. But if United decide to let him leave, the situation might change, so we will have to continue monitoring developments moving forward.
