Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is pushing forward with negotiations to sign Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min. The South Korean international has one year remaining on his contract with Tottenham, but the club is willing to approve his departure this summer.
Son Heung-min is currently participating in Tottenham's Asian preseason tour and, as stipulated in his contract, will feature in the friendly match against Newcastle United in South Korea on August 3rd.
If Tottenham sell Son Heung-min before this game, they will lose a substantial amount of commercial revenue. It is expected that no official announcement will be made before then.
Son Heung-min joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, having made 454 appearances to date and scored 173 goals.
Despite Tottenham's underwhelming performance in the Premier League last season, Son Heung-min helped the club lift its first-ever trophy by defeating Manchester United to win the Europa League, thereby securing qualification for the Champions League.
