In the first round of the new Premier League season, as Wolves faced Manchester City at home, the home stands displayed a giant TIFO before the match to pay tribute to Jota, who tragically passed away in a car accident last month.
Jota played for Wolves from 2017 to 2020. During his time with the club, the Portuguese forward made 131 appearances and scored 44 goals.
On July 3rd, Jota and his brother André Silva tragically lost their lives in a car accident.
Before the first round of the new Premier League season, Wolves held a series of tribute activities for Jota and his brother at their home ground, including unveiling a giant TIFO on the stands, which featured an image of Jota celebrating with his arms outstretched.
Beneath the TIFO, a banner read: “WE'LL REMEMBER YOU WHEN YOU WALK IN FIELDS OF GOLD.”
In addition, Portugal national team coach Martínez and Portuguese midfielder Rúben Neves were also present at Wolves' home stadium to attend the tribute event.
