Liverpool are very close to reaching a full agreement with Parma defender Giovanni Leoni. The deal could be completed within 24 hours or less. The fee discussed between the two clubs is around £30 million, and may even be slightly lower.
Separately, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi is willing to see out the final year of his contract. This comes despite Liverpool and Crystal Palace having held preliminary talks about bringing the England international in as competition for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.
Crystal Palace values Guéhi at around £40 million, and the England international is unsure about leaving as he hopes to get more playing time ahead of the World Cup. Additionally, Liverpool are on the verge of signing 18-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma for a transfer fee of £30 million.
Liverpool hopes to engage directly with Crystal Palace to push through the deal, rather than contacting the player, as they have a good relationship with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. If Guéhi chooses to see out his contract at Crystal Palace, numerous top clubs are sure to enter the race for him next summer.
