Bayer Leverkusen have been busy in the transfer market this summer under new manager Erik ten Hag, active in both selling and signing players: so far, the club has raked in €210 million from player sales and spent €110 million on new signings. Bild has outlined the makeup of Leverkusen’s squad.
Leverkusen’s latest addition is 21-year-old winger Bokou from AZ Alkmaar, who will wear the No.30 jersey and has signed a contract until 2030. In goal, the arrivals of Justin Bijlow and Janis Blaswich provide new security, while defender Calvin Ramsay, signed from Liverpool, is a key reinforcement for the backline. Additionally, 18-year-old Axel Tapp, brought in from Paris Saint-Germain, is ready to claim a spot in the starting lineup.
For further defensive reinforcements, Leverkusen are in talks with Sevilla over signing Loïc Badé, with the latter demanding around €30 million. Free agent Victor Lindelöf was recommended to Leverkusen, but the Swede is reportedly not in the club’s considerations. Whether a new midfielder will be signed following Granit Xhaka’s departure remains undecided. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Leverkusen are interested in Exequiel Fernandez of Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, but the Argentine is not a priority for the club at present.
Most importantly, Leverkusen need a playmaker capable of operating as an attacking midfielder and on the flanks, with Brighton’s young Argentine midfielder Facundo Bonifacio among the potential candidates. Furthermore, Leverkusen are said to be interested in signing Ismaël Bennacer from Monaco, but the player’s current price tag is too high. Sporting director Simon Rolfes and football director Jonas Falkenberg are working hard on this.
It is certain that Leverkusen will not consider letting any existing players leave until more signings are completed. Forward Amin Adli (25) has attracted interest from clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Marseille, making him a potential departure.
