Sources reveal that Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has hit a transfer wall recently — Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid all conducted in-depth transfer due diligence on him, but ultimately chose to abandon pursuit and turn to other targets. Now, only Chelsea remains interested in the Argentine international, with the two sides having largely agreed on personal terms.
Specifically, Arsenal shelved their chase for Garnacho entirely after securing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke; Tottenham shifted their focus to Man City prospect Savinho, ruling Garnacho out of consideration; Atletico Madrid, despite once wanting to re-sign the player from their youth academy, eventually opted to sign Villarreal attacker Alex Baena, closing the door on Garnacho’s return.
Chelsea, by contrast, has long laid groundwork for signing Garnacho: in January, Carlos Campello (the core of the player’s agent team) and Enrique de Lucas (who played for the Blues from 2002-03) visited Stamford Bridge to discuss a transfer. Now, the London club has become the only one willing to sign him.
Garnacho’s desire to leave stems from a rift with United: in May, Red Devils manager Rúben Amorim explicitly told him he "could leave." The breaking point came after the Europa League final defeat, when Garnacho publicly questioned his future at the club and complained about losing his starting spot — an act that infuriated the coaching staff and pushed him out of United’s long-term plans.
According to sources, Garnacho now holds a firm stance: either join Chelsea, or stay at United even if he’s "on the bench" — he refuses to move to any other club despite being out of the team’s plans. Currently, he’s waiting for Chelsea to invite him for a medical; while the two clubs still need to finalize last transfer details, Garnacho has agreed a long-term contract with the Blues until 2032. For him, after a tough season under Amorim, joining Chelsea is seen as the best chance to "restart" his career.
